Title: 2000 Cherokee Voltage
Post by: pgarrett on April 30, 2009, 03:49:09 pm
I just fixed a starting problem in my 2000 XJ that was caused (pretty sure) by a corroded cable.  Just to be sure everything is running that way it is supposed to, can anyone tell me what voltage I should be seeing at the battery when the system is under load (radio, lights, A/C, wipers).  Right now the meter shows 13.86.

That sounds good with things pulling power. I go by 14.4 with things off. I guess it depends on how much you turn on to effect that number. As well as how well the ault. is preforming.

Ok...  now I'm confused.  I went to check the voltage levels again (this time to get a reading without any load).  Today it showed 14.2 with no load and....  14.1 with a full load.  Thats a pretty significant change from the other 13.86 reading.  I'm going to have to assume something is still wrong with the electrical system.
