Title: Blinker problem in CJ7
Post by: joe21228 on August 10, 2009, 08:03:32 am
Driver side blinker stays constant when I turn on signal. Replaced all the bulbs; front, side, and rear. Made sure to get a good ground in the back. Still nothing constant blinker when i put the blinker on.

Brake light does not work either. However, the rear taillights work when the lights are on. I am lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the world of "wacky" CJ lighting issues....

Something is sending current back there when it shouldn't. It's not likely to be a ground problem because none of the supply wires at the tail llight are grounded when they're not hot.
Unplug the rear harness and test all of the wires on both sides of the plug with a 12-volt test light.

When my blinker stays on I go strate to my front grill those turn lights always give me a fit. The sockets are old and the whole thing is grounded with the screws that hold the cover on.

I second the front grill for lighting issues,  shine up the metal where all those mounting screws are,. double check the light bulbs.  and look for  broken installation.
