I will be buying a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, and I was wondering that rear it has, I know Jeeps come with Dana-30's and Dana-35's. But I also know they have the Chrysler 8.25. I was just wondering what year they started to put the 8.25 in. And no I don't have any pictures of the rear, sorry.

I think in 1991. So, you'd have to actually see the Jeep to know which rear it has. Could be either. Ask the owner.
-
Iv already seen the Jeep, and drove it and stuff, but I forgot to get a pic of the rear. The rear looks a little bigger then the Dana rear's. But its been awhile.

All Things Jeep sells this really cool T shirt showing all the different ones... http://www.allthingsjeep.com/atj11127.html

I think, but Im not 100% +, but I think it might be the 8.25. When I go to make another payment on it I will get a pic.

If its ovel its a 35, if it looks like a stop sign its a 8.25
Have to look at the years to tell if it is 27 or 29 spl.

I looked at it . It's an 8 1/4
-
Thats right you did look at it, I FORGOT to ask you. DuH! Like I said I thought it was a 8 1/4 but I wasn't sure. What spline count does it have do you no? And what gears?
-
I don't know a whole lot about splines and such. I seem to remember that the newer 8.25s (late 90s early 00s) had the 29 spline and the earlier years had the 27, I'd say 27 for yours. But if it's an automatic trans it probably has 3.55 and if it's manual it's probably 3.07. But as with all things they might have been swapped but most likely it's one of those two.
-
This Jeep is stock, and its 5 speed. I was thinking it was the 3.07 gears, because my last Cherokee which was an 89 had the 3.07.

3.07
