Title: cj7 drive shaft
Post by: 76cj7 on November 21, 2010, 09:13:56 pm
hi, i have a 1976 cj7 and i just put a 285 motor and a 4speed trans from a 1984 cj7 in to it and now i am having a hard time with finding the right drive shafts. Can anyone tell me if the 76 would have a diffrent size rear as the 84? Can i just use a set of 84 driveshafts?

some come with the quadratrac system and others the dana 20 or dana 300, but the rears are different in the qtrac and the dana style.

The U-Joints should be the 1310's if factory...And if they are the origonal factory delivered joints they are the stronger ones too.
If the joint fits the yoke, which it should then run with em'.
You should also be sure the length of the shafts is correct.
Quigley Motors are drive shaft experts if you need to consult. Manchester, PA. (717) 266-2631
They'll make the lengths correct...I've used them and reccommend them highly. They are "pricey" but worth every penny.
