There is a trail cutting for the new park up in Shamokin PA. They are currently getting trails ready for the Jeep Jamboree in August 2012.
Northumberland County's Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area (AOAA) is currently in the planning phase. The proposed facility covers multiple municipalities located in southern Northumberland County. (Coal Township, Zerbe Township, Mount Carmel Township, East Cameron Township, West Cameron Township, and City of Shamokin)

i didnt know this was a 2 day thing, so do they need more people on sat or sun. were in for one or the other. is it a normal trail trimming or heavy duty cutting. just so we bring enough tools.
-
Its a normal trail cutting...bring your tools...sounds like they have more people on sunday....but don't forget the club meeting is on the 11.
-
I saw on the Jeep Jamboree site that the Jamboree in Shamokin this summer is already sold out. I am going to try and make up on Saturday.
-
We are on 6 day a week schedule again so I can't make it. Who is organizing the guides? I would be interested in that gig, How about you Keith?
-
The Jamboree "SOLD OUT" in under 16 hours!
-
anyone have an exact address where to meet up for the trail cutting? i cant find anything on the aoaa site. and 125 is alot of roadway.
-
Yeah, it's not an easy one to come accross for even those that have been up a couple times.
You can call Barry Yarworth (570) 850-7363 (Cell) and maybe he can give you an address to use your GPS.
-
Yea Ron. I could be interested in that. Adam, If you find a good address let me know. I am planning on going tomorrow.
-
Call barry ....
I have directions but they are not good and are land mark directions.
I was told you turn down the rd that a sign that says Easton Industries Quarry, the rd is closed but that is going to be the entrance to the place. Its a 1/2 mile past Burnside if you combing from shamokin.

Sorry folks, just found out it is a working Saturday.

Jeremy Meehan and his father will be meeting a group at 615 am in the Bass Pro Shop in Harrisburg, they plan on leaving the parking lot at 630. They know where the entrance is located , so anyone wishing to go should try to travel up with them.
-
cool, tried calling barry but no answer. we use to wheel up there before we joined the jeep club but there are so many entrance areas to enter from. but those guys drive alot faster than my tank can roll .lol.
-
If you go to the park homepage look for the notice about the jeep jamboree. There is a link for directions to the trailhead. I'm going sunday with the EVOR guys.
-
Tried to call you hillybilly, if you want meet up with us at basspro at 6:15am leave lot at 6:30
-
Keith and hillbilly met up with as planned at Basspro, we were on the road on time and arrived at the staging area as planned, we cut one trail (when I left at 14:00) That was supposed to be "easy" Its Not but it is easier than what the "hard" trail crew is doing. This is very reminiscent of early Paragon trail clearing and there is a LOT of work yet to do. I suggest future crews take a change of socks, water proof boots, saws and lopers, In addition digging bars, and picks would have been useful today. Thanks to all that showed up.

someone else's video of the trails that hard group were "doing"
-
Looks like major "carnage" there...Broke the front king pin on the drivers side.
-
I went sunday with EVOR. There were about 80 people there, mostly jeeps and buggies and some ATV's. We cut a couple "easy" trails...so easy we had two flat tires and had to use the winches a couple times in our group. But it was a fun day, too bad it gets dark so early.

Does anyone have any idea when the next trail cutting is planned?
