Wow what a day! We saw alot of history in the woods yesterday, buildings and spring houses dating back to 1914. Racush has a whole 8500 acres of guide only land on the ATV side. The ATV people don't even use half of that. We had a tour of the bottom hal of the property and there is 700 acres to play on before you even get to where the ATVs are. I learned alot about Rausch Creek and getting out to see the old stables and mines was awesome.

Were the old mine entrances adits or shafts?

We saw ventilation shafts and mine adits .
They will be sealing off the ventilation shafts so there will be no accidents. We got to go into the fan room which looks down the shaft its self. Very interesting but scary thinking about the people who used to climb down that ladder everyday into that shaft for maintenance. I would really like to go back just to check out all the foundations , there is a lot of stuff to see and we just couldn't stop at each one.

Wow! that brings back memories from wheeling there in early 80's. Hopefully next time Lori and I will be with to sight see.
