Technical Advice and Questions / Re: 93 Xj Stalls
« on: December 20, 2009, 12:19:25 am »
The shop is Norry Citgo, in Northumberland. Mike D. (I would have no idea how to spell his last name) owns the shop. He lives across the street and did an engine swap on my dad's satilite way back in the day. My Dad said he was a really decent guy and if something was beyond him he would tell you right away rather then bill you for  whole bunch of labor then send you else where to get it fixed.

Unfortunatly for most of you guys I'm about an hour and a half north of York. But maybe there are some other Jeepers in my neck of the woods that will see this.

Thanks again for the replies.

Alright, I got the Jeep back 3 days ago and it's running great. It was the crank sensor. I took it to the shop because of the weather and lack of free time but, the guy hooked it up to the computer, found out what was wrong with it, put the crank sensor in I bought, test drove it for a little while to make sure it was actually my problem, inspected it, AND cleaned my windows. He only charged me $53 bucks. I was expecting to get rapped on it because everyone around here wants to charge you x amount for hooking it up to the computer, at least an hours worth of labor, and who knows what for the inspection. So I'm happy.

I would have posted up sooner but I didn't want to say I got it fixed before I was 100% sure it was.

What's the maxi fuse and where's it located? The O2 sensor wires were still intact just the casing was melted off. I'm going to rewire it as soon as I can. And thank you 4x4_cherokee for the info. I'll try that tomorrow when I get up.

Technical Advice and Questions / 93 Xj Stalls

It just stopped running two nights ago on my way home from work. It was running fine for the most part. Every once in a while while driving the RPMs would drop down to nothing and then kick back in. The tranny would also unlock and lock back up. ??? It seemed to get more frequent and now it wont run more then a few feet without stalling. While looking for loose plugs or bad wires I found my wires to my O2 sensor were pulled tight up against the exhaust manifold and melted through. I seperated the wires and checked them out. The casing was melted off but the wires were still there. It still wanted to stall out after I seperated the wires to make sure they didn't short. I've read as much as I could on NAXJA about stalling Xj's and came up with bad CPS, bad MAP sensor, bad ECU, bad grounds in the battery, bad battery, bad alt., bad fuel pump relay, bad fuel pump, bad wires going to the fuel pump. And a few more. I checked my battery connections and they were good. I bought a new CPS, and a new MAP sensor, I'm waiting on a nicer day to install the two sensors.

Does anybody have any suggestions on what to check?  I'm lost with this. And the worst thing is I have no place to work on it besides out on the street. So I'm at the mercy of mother nature.

General Discussion / Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?

Installed Browndog's ultra flex rubber motor mounts, Bosch 19# injectors from a mustang 5.0, and got rid of the Tcase drop. The motor mounts are great. I'm still waiting to see if the injectors did anything.

I did a little searching on NAXJA and the only options I found were, if it's not too bad drill out the mount and the metal sleeve in the bushing to 7/16", weld the holes closed and re drill, or cut it off and get a new one welded on. I'll keep searching

Technical Advice and Questions / Fuel injector cleaning?
« on: June 05, 2009, 02:28:19 pm »
I just got 6, 19lb ford injectors from a mustang 5.0. I would like to get them cleaned before I install them in the jeep. Where can I find a shop that has a cleaning machine?

Technical Advice and Questions / ? about silver Yj at Mt Zion O.R.
« on: May 10, 2009, 11:56:54 pm »
I was at Mount Zion off road Last night and saw a silver Yj with a coil conversion on the front. Does anyone know this jeep and the kit he/she used. I was tired and waiting to meet Rusty Xj there and saw it in the dark. It looked like a bolt on kit and I wanted to see how it worked. If it wasn't bolt on it had extra stuff bolted on the axle. I'll have to go back when it's light out and I'm awake cause now this is bothering me. I don't know why but I just want to know what was going on with the front axle.

Will that work with U-bolts? Or will it have to be moved off to the side of them? I've read that the Y-links run through the UCA bushings quick. I know they make top quality stuff. Thats just what I heard was the biggest problem with them.
