Figured it out.  Some num-nut (previous owner) spliced a 16-18 gauge wire in line.   Why, I have no idea. Traced the problem to the faulty wire after I untaped a bunch of stuff then got into the protective wire covering.

Thanks for the help

« on: August 10, 2009, 02:12:43 pm »
I am doing a frame off restoration. Just going to buy a new frame. Trust me, it works better for me. Looking at different magazines, the want to know if it is "Wide Track"

How do I know? It is an 86 CJ7.

This is what I know:
Chevy 350 - Motor
T-176 - Trans
Not sure what axles. How would I know this?

Any help is appreciated.

Technical Advice and Questions / Alternator / Battery / Charging Problem
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:04:15 am »
I have an 86 CJ7 with a 350. When I was replacing the fuel pump, I think I shorted the alternator by touching the screw on the back with a wrench to the frame. long story.....

Anyway, the next day i drove the Jeep and the volt meter was not sitting at 12, and the battery died. Replaced the battery and the replaced the alternator, just to be safe. So, new Battery and Alternator. I was driving home last night and saw the volt meter dropping from 12 to about 10. I got it into the garage, shut it off, and dead again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A buddy said there might be a fuse, checked the fuse box, could not find any and made sure none were blown to be safe.

Technical Advice and Questions / Blinker problem in CJ7
« on: August 10, 2009, 08:03:32 am »
Driver side blinker stays constant when I turn on signal. Replaced all the bulbs; front, side, and rear. Made sure to get a good ground in the back. Still nothing constant blinker when i put the blinker on.

Brake light does not work either. However, the rear taillights work when the lights are on. I am lost.

Any help would be appreciated.

Technical Advice and Questions / CJ7 - Fuel Problem
« on: July 22, 2009, 11:07:05 am »
CJ7 with a fuel problem.  No fuel getting to fuel pump from the tank.  Is there a fuel filter in the tank?  The Jeep has sat, I am affraid the gas in the tank might have gelled up.

Could it be the fuel pump?  But there was no gas in the line when I pulled the fuel pump.

Thanks

If you need a fiberglass tub, I have one.  Still in crate from the company.  As well as a 1 piece fiberglass front end.  (Like a corvette - fenders, hood, and grill all one piece).  This was for my 86cj7, but I don't think I am going to do the restoration and want it out of my garage.
