YJ Leaf Springs

Ok, it looks like I will need to replace my rear leaf springs before I make the trip up North. I was looking at different brands and it hard to find them that are not made for lift kit use. Lookin for stock height & ride...maybe a smoother ride. So far all I have found is Pro Comp. Has anyone had any issues using their parts?

I don't know of anyone that has switched their YJ springs to stock height... sorry! :-\

I switched my 93 YJ to the 2.5" Rubicon Express springs and have been very happy with them over the past 2 years. They will allow you to get 31" tires under real easy... maybe even 33" ones. All leaf springs seem like rough rides to me after riding in my new JK with coil springs. I would expect new leaf springs to be stiff no matter what size you get.

Thats one thing that has always confused me. People say you cant get 31's on a stock YJ. I got em on there. All I'm worried about is the age of the springs and their condition. The Pro Comps I was looking at are a stock replacement. Not to give any lift. Just need to take care of it through the winter season. Come summer I'm thinking of the 4" R.E. lift kit.

I would either run what you got (if there not to bad) or get the RE kit now. New springs for five months seems like a waste.

Springs, no matter what brand are all stiff at installation. They soften the ride a bit in time after being flexed. If your springs are not bent, or broken I wouldn't reccommend replacement before lifting it.

Well, they do have a slight downward bend. Thats why I'm thinking it might be a "must do" repair before I make the trip.

As do I - no rubbing to date BUT my YJ will be going up a 1.5-2.0 inches next weekend (shackles F&R).

Is the main leaf cracked or just flat? If its just flat get a sring from an under axle setup cut the main so it ends under the eyes on both sides. SUA (spring under axle) usually have mofe arc then SOA. I know Yj's are SUA. That way you wouldn't be putting a flatter pack in the mix.
