There is a lot of controversy going on for this event. The original person who started it all either stepped down or was removed from the coordination of this event. I have heard many peoples complaints that this was a free event for a family, only costing food and lodging of their choice. The new coordinators have changed. As if everything in ocean city isn't expensive enough, they started the registration at $65 for the first 400 Jeeps, $75 for the next 400 Jeeps , $85 for the final 400 Jeeps and $30 a Jeep to ride on the beach.

I want to explain a little more about the OCJW "drama" (for lack of a better word). First off, many of us have been banned from posting on their page but, we have only been banned from their facebook pages, we COULD still register and attend the event if we wanted too. Some have even been offered free/reduced registration to appease them so they stop posting negative comments on facebook. That being said, MANY of us will not be attending and here's why: This year, the coordinator of the event, Sack, has...in the words of the Commander Hotel..."stepped down" but what that really means is he was booted to the curb after all his years of hard work to make a TOTALLY AWESOME event and Eastern Shore Jeep Association was asked not to help either.. Now this year OCJW has made it a fee based event. Although many are personally not opposed to fees.. they are,however when they (OCJW and all the businesses involved....the Commander Hotel, C.C. Customs, Live Wire Media, etc) are attempting to bring in well over $100,000.00 on this event...that does not sit well with alot of people. They, OCJW, didn't spring the news of fees until the last minute, then they are not answering people's questions as to what the fees are for and will block you if you ask them, and they claim there is a charity involved, but won't name it till sometime later this week. They have blocked many of us for stating our opinions because apparently the truth hurts. So another great bunch of FAMILY BASED fellow jeepers have jumped in and are attempting to make a FREE FAMILY FUN weekend of events for the same weekend as OCJW. Please, please like and share the "Jeeps on the Shore" page for more info on upcoming event. The real jeep family is one of morals and values and we need to stick together. I am sure some will attend OCJW and feel who cares if there are fees involved cuz you do have to pay to play and that is certainly your perogative. I am sure OCJW will be glad to take your money. And save for next year cuz the price will probably go up. More importantly, it is better to have the backs of those who gave countless hours to make it what it is today and show them what the jeep family is really all about.
