Hey everyone, I was just at Jeep Jam this weekend. I realized after going over the obstacles that my vacuum actuator on my front axle failed. 2W-LO is not fun! If anybody else drives a yj and has had this happen, here's what I did:
Remove the vacuum/fork housing from the axle:
Go to home depot and buy a 75cent nylon spacer, Dimensions: 1/2 x 5/8 x .375
Remove the c-clips and slide out the vacuum housing and then place the spacer inside. Make sure you put it on the vacuum side.
The spacer locks the gear fork so the two axle shafts are always connected.
***Before reinstalling it, you must move the gear connector piece on the axle over to the left side. You may have to jack up the passenger side wheel and rotate it slightly.***
This eliminates the need for a posi-lock cable and it only cost 75 cents. TJs run with solid front axles so this shouldn't be a problem for YJs.
