I'm going to ask anyways.....down the road I'm planning on putting the TJ on a trailer....SO, I'm thinking of buying a Dodge Ram 1500 with a V6 3.7....will it be up to pulling a TJ and a trailer?

I just got rid of my 2003 Ram 1500 in December. I had the 5.9 with the towing package. I had no problem towing CJ's on a tandem axled trailer. I doubt that the V-6 is going to be up to the job unless it's one of the ones set up for trailering from the factory. An aftermarket trailer hitch on a rig that wasn't set up for towing may be a recipe for trouble! The correct size trailer and your TJ will probably be over 5,000 lbs... maybe closer to 6,000 depending on how beefy the trailer is and how many skid plates you put on the TJ!

I think the v6 might be a bit anemic for towing - you would have to rev the snot out of it going up hills.  When I bought my Commando, I towed it back home from Dayton with my 318 powered 1989 3/4 ton Dodge van (w/auto trans) PLUS there was a 360, trans, xfer case, two doors, etc. in the back - no problems. get a v8 if ya wanna tow, you'll be happier except at the pump. I've got a 30 gallon tank in the van so at $3.59/gal it runs about $100 bucks to fill it and drive 375 miles till its on E again.
