Tires for 08 Sahara
« on: July 01, 2008, 01:14:15 pm »
Following the trip to Beech Creek, I took Chief's advice & had a 3" lift kit installed. Can I now get away with 35" tires, and if so should I put a shorter gear in the differentials? Current stock tires are 32" on 18" rims. The guys who sold me the lift kit (Trailmaster) only recommend 33" tires, but it seems to me there's plenty of room for 35"ers. Any thoughts or advice would be welcome. ???

33s seem to be the norm on a JK with a 3 inch lift.  My buddy is doin a 4-inch with 35s on his X, but he's got an extra inch.  33s will do ya good.  That's what I run, and I get around with only a few issues.

IF you had a CJ you could do it, but NOT with a JK. Your Jeep has more advanced, sensative, components that require extended modifications in order to run 35" tires.

I like my CJ with 3" of lift and running 35's... :D No steering modifications, drag-link, drop pan...etc. etc. etc. And all done for thousands less I will add.

BUT, you probably have AC, leg room, carpet, cup holder, cig. lighter, operating defroster, wipers that work, and heat just to name several of the ammentities I give back. BUT, I can charge up a camper for three days  ;)

Did your Sahara come with the BFG Mud Terrains like the '08 JK Rubicons? Those measure out at like 32 1/2". If so, you're not gonna be getting much more rubber under your rig. I know I could easily fit 33's under my new Rubi without changing a thing.

I am not planning on spending any money on a lift or mods for my '08 until I pay it off. I am liking the 0% financing. Besides, I don't want to screw up my warranty by changing anything this early on...
