After taking the TJ with small tires on a nice ride at RC yesterday, I went to Lititz and picked up my overhead console from DoubleD Fabrication.  It's the first one he's done for TJs and I'll try to take pictures and document the process as I install a CB and 2m amateur rig.  Look for a thread as I get going on the project.

My daughter convinced me to drop the top today and even after an afternoon in full sun, I still have not cured her of that.  I spent about 5 years in the TX sun and you don't want to run around topless down there 8)

I don't need any more heat in the cab - I'm considering some vents in the hood.  Plus, my 2m rig will do 75 W and I'm thinking I might need to add some vents to the console even with the fan on the heatsink.  And I hate to run 8AWG wire around.  Besides that, I like to keep my association with the FCC on a friendly level.

Hummm.....strange noise when I am backing up in the Jeep. Sounds like it coming from the rear axle so I take off the wheels check to make sure its not the breaks or drum, shaft.......nothing. So I take off the diff cover spin everything around, still nothing. Its a snapping noise when I back up....don't know where else to look.

I bought a portable air compressor for my Jeep.  I think I'll test it out tomorrow before I lose the receipt!  ;D

Heck, it's probably just a stone stuck in one of your tires. I heard that can happen when you go up the power line hill climb in 2 wheel drive!  ;)

Does that mean you are preparing the Wobble Jeep for an off-road adventure?  ;D

Angie if you ever want to, I can take you for a day or a half day of wheeling up at Rausch on nothing but green trails. They are very easy like a drive on a dirty bumpy sometimes muddy road and I am sure there are others that would join us.

Yes, I'm very interested in getting up there eventually!  I just don't want to become a statistic on my first trip out.  :P

Let us know how that tread design rides on the road.
