Got 3 hours of garage time last evening to remove the front suspension on the Willys. I'll throw some pics up when I get a chance. Took off the shocks, U-bolts, spring plates, "U" Shackles, pivot pins, and leaf springs. I discovered that the inner wrap of the passenger side rear leaf spring was broken. Apparently for many years. This is the reason the outer wrap opened up and the spring failed. Glad it happened in front of my house, because it would have been even more ugly at 40 mph on some back road!
The "U" shackles were a very poor original design, which is obviously why they ended with the early CJ's. Regardless, I'm putting the same style back on to keep it looking original.
My new front springs are being shipped today. American made repro's that are double wrapped. Hope to have them by the weekend!
