D30 Pinon Seal (97 TJ)
« on: December 23, 2009, 11:27:49 am »
Found my front pinon seal has started to seep.  Checked on line and found the seal at Napa (part NOS 15791) for about $40.  4wd.com had one for $4

http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=6178

Is that the right seal or is that something different?  The price difference has me wondering.

TIA

That's it, be sure you press it in evenly all around. You want it placed in flush and not even slightly crooked. Smear some gear oil around it to help it going in.

Napa must have messed up (there good most of the time) I would say six or eight bucks but not $40 :o.
Get a new pinion nut as well, they are not to be reused. And only a couple of bucks.
