skid plates
« on: October 29, 2010, 10:13:22 am »
So I got my skid plates and I am considering putting a protective coating that would be easy to touch up after runs. I was thinking that cheapo bed liner in a can or something similar. Any ideas, advice, or experience??? Or am I over thinking?

It's probably not a good idea, because if you ever "Flop" everybody would be standing around admiring ur great looking skid plates and not checking to see if you're OK...  ::)

I actually wasn't thinking about them looking good. More along the lines of not wanting every scratch and ding to begin a breeding ground for oxidation........ But I am thinking looking cool now, maybe bright orange??

I just use a flat black spray on my skid plates and stuff.  Mainly to look good before I use them and prevent most rust, but it's also easy to touch up again if you want.  I have not found where I have ever desired to touch up the skid plates after use though.  Thick steel takes a long time to rust through ;D
